ABOUT GOSLING

TIM GOSLING - DIRECTOR

Tim graduated from the Central School of Art & Design in 1987 with a BA (Hons.) degree in Theatre Design. His work in theatre included creating set and stage scenes for major West end productions such as Miss Saigon and Starlight Express as well as working as a set designer for Las Vegas shows. In the late 1980s Tim joined David Linley and became a director in 1993. At Linley he was instrumental in developing the company's design style and expanding their bespoke commission over the last 18 years.

In 2005 Tim set up his own company, Gosling, giving himself the freedom to design a wider range of furniture and interiors while continuing his working relationships with interior designers world-wide. The company's objective is to create a bespoke service of design and furniture that has style and longevity. His world renowned furniture designs draw inspiration from classical architecture and styles. Each commission begins with the very intimate process of working with the client to ensure the designs reflect their needs and taste. Every piece of furniture is made to the most exacting standards using the finest materials and traditional cabinet-making techniques, and each element of the interiors is addressed with the same care and attention to detail.

Gosling has built an impressive portfolio with furniture and interiors commissions worldwide. Commercial projects include; The Savoy Hotel, the Goring Hotel, The Berkeley Hotel, BP Headquarters in London, the Oriana cruise ship, and even a series of humidors for Dunhill. Private client commissions include everything from private jets and yachts to country homes and London apartments.


JEAN GOMM - DIRECTOR

At Gosling, Jean Gomm is instrumental in the short and long term strategic development of the company, creating the financial blueprint that enables the company to anchor and expand Tim's creative vision.

After achieving her MBA at Cranfield University and the world renowned Harvard School of Business, Jean studied at the Sorbonne University in Paris where she now lives. She has worked for a number of major private, governmental and international organisations, directing policy on economic, social and managerial issues at the highest level. She has also had extensive experience in arts related and creative industries, finance, business management systems, business strategy, communications and public relations.


PHILIP STURDY - DESIGNER

Philip Sturdy studied Art and Design at Harrogate Art College and continued his education at Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication where he achieved a BA (Hons) degree in Product & Furniture Design. He worked for a short time as a craftsman in various workshops gaining valuable experience in manufacturing. He left the hands-on side of furniture making to pursue a career in management. He joined a large film retailer as a regional marketing manager working on national campaigns and this led to a stint in website design where he honed his computer-aided design skills. Philip then joined Linley in 2000 as a designer responsible for bespoke furniture commissions. Now at Gosling, Phil continues to design and produce visuals for our furniture and interiors commissions.


RUSSELL THOMAS - PRODUCTION CO-ORDINATOR

Russell Thomas studied Furniture Design & Craftsmanship at Basford Hall College Nottingham and Buckingham University College, achieving a HND and BA (Hons.) degree. Russell's early career included working for Marks & Spencer and then later at a furniture workshop in Derbyshire. After working as production co-ordinator at Linley for eight years, Russell joined Gosling in 2007 to head up Production where he is responsible for dealing with issues arising from production, liaising with workshops and overseeing all furniture installations.


PHOTIS PHOTI - DESIGNER

Photis Photi began his design career at Barnet College in North London where he achieved a National Diploma in 3-Dimensional Design. He pursued his passion for design further by attending the University of Plymouth, Faculty of Art & Design in Exeter, leaving with a BA (Hons.) degree in 3-Dimensional Design (Designer for Industry).

After completing his degree course Photis worked for a traditional upholstery furniture manufacturer in East London, gaining invaluable experience in translating designs from drawing board through to mass manufacture. After this he spent ten years working for Linley as Design Manager, responsible for producing designs for bespoke furniture commissions, and managing a busy design studio.

Photis joined Gosling as a designer in 2007 to build the bespoke furniture design element of the business.


ALEXANDR MOROZOV - DESIGNER

Alexandr studied in his native Latvia at the Riga Building College achieving a Bachelors degree in Building Works Management before going on to study at the Art Academy of Latvia. He worked as a building manager's assistant for two years before moving into the interior design and engineering sector in both Latvia and Russia. After coming to the UK Alexandr spent time working as an architectural assistant for an interior and structural design company before joining Gosling in 2008 as a designer.


LEONORA BIRTS - INTERIOR DESIGNER

Leonora Birts has worked in the Interiors industry for ten years. During which timed she worked for Pierre Frey; worked as assistant to an Interior Designer and studied at KLC School of Design before setting up her own business. Leonora now works as an Interior Designer for Gosling helping to co-ordinate all Interiors projects.


RACHEL DEWHURST - MARKETING

Rachel Dewhurst studied at Cape Town University, graduating in 1999 with a BA degree in Classics. After moving to the UK in 2000 she began working for Christie's Auctioneers, initially in the South Kensington Press Office and then in the Marketing department at King Street. Rachel worked in the Marketing department at Linley for five years, managing events and coordinating direct marketing before joining Gosling in 2008.


JANE DUNDAS - OFFICE MANAGER & PA TO TIM GOSLING

Jane Dundas started working for Gosling in 2007 having spent several years as a freelance set dresser/stylist in the film and advertising industry. Her experience in coordinating productions has proved invaluable in her role as office manager and PA to Tim.
