Carbon fibre

Carbon fibres are about 5–10 micrometers in diameter and composed mostly of carbon atoms which are woven in to a mesh fabric. Carbon fibres have several advantages including high stiffness and tensile strength, low weight, high chemical and temperature tolerance and low thermal expansion. These properties have made the fibre very popular in aerospace, motor sports, along with other competition sports.

Its light weight nature, durability and excellent malleability make it the perfect material for the Marine industry and Gosling use it often in outdoor and super yacht furniture design. Although the fibre is usually covered in a coated finish, if you look closely at the Marine collection you will see ‘exposed’ strips of the material have been incorporated into the designs.
