Has the Pandemic changed the way owners use their yachts? If so, what has changed?

I think the pandemic has made shipyards busier than they ever have been, seeing as it seemed to be obvious getaway. It will be interesting to see if this continues. Owners are often looking to spend longer periods of time on their yachts; hence they are looking for more comfort and flexibility from their lighting.

What is the most unusual design request you have had?

We are asked to achieve such varied briefs, ranging from concealed party lighting to specialist fishing lighting. Drawing from our extensive experience in yacht lighting, hospitality, and other luxury environments, we strive to find the perfect detail, to meet our clients’ needs

Are owners looking to make the design and use of their yachts more sustainable?

Designers are key in presenting to client’s sustainable solutions. The onus needs to come from the designers, something that needs to be both beautiful and sustainable.

Lighting can play a huge part in reducing the total power usage of a boat. We are also looking more and more at using light sources that can be maintained and repaired onboard as opposed to simply replacing lighting and adding to landfill.
