Tim Gosling began his career at David Linley Furniture, the internationally renowned atelier founded by David Linley, where he spent 18 years as a designer and director. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s distinctive language of refined British craftsmanship, creating exceptional furniture and interiors for an elite global clientele.
In 2005, Tim established Gosling with a clear vision: to create timeless, exquisitely crafted furniture that bridges classical proportion with contemporary expression. Over the past two decades, he has built an international reputation for bespoke work of the highest calibre, collaborating on projects ranging from private residences and superyachts to landmark commercial spaces. His portfolio includes commissions for the Jaeger-LeCoultre flagship store in London, The Goring Hotel, The Berkeley Hotel, BP Headquarters, and the Oriana cruise ship.
A passionate advocate for craftsmanship, Tim’s process begins with the pencil. His rare ability to sketch ideas in real time offers clients an immediate and intuitive understanding of proportion, scale, and detail, an approach that remains central to his practice.
Now, more than 21 years after founding his studio, Tim has chosen to join Size craft Group, aligning with a collective that shares his commitment to preserving and advancing the finest traditions of making. Through this collaboration, and by working closely with specialist workshops and master artisans, he continues to bring designers’ visions to life, ensuring that the language, skill, and integrity of great furniture endure for future generations.
Tim lives and works in London, surrounded by a personal collection of rare and beautiful objects. A skilled artist and draftsman, he lectures internationally and has led drawing masterclasses in London, Shanghai, New York, and Moscow. His third book, Classic Contemporary: The DNA of Furniture Design, was published by Thames & Hudson in 2015 to critical acclaim.
Photis joined the Gosling Team in 2007 to become a valuable member of the design team. He spent ten years working for Linley as Design Manager, responsible for producing designs for bespoke furniture commissions, and managing a busy design studio.
